The New Jersey State Police required a secure, efficient and user-friendly solution for applicant background checks for employment and licensing purposes.
Solution
IDEMIA provides livescan fingerprinting services that allow NJSP to process citizen background checks at 18 conveniently located fingerprint centers throughout the state.
IDEMIA has worked closely with the New Jersey State Police agency since 2004, and in 2019, assisted with upgrading their legacy State Enrollment Platform with the IDEMIA Universal Enrollment Platform (UEP). The next generation platform provided NJSP with more functionality and the added efficiencies of the cloud, including more flexibility in scheduling and the ability for officers to pull real-time reports or data sets, which has led to fewer citizen complaints.
The single-point-of-contact vendor managed civil fingerprint services network provides a simplified experience for the applicant to navigate—from making an appointment to payment—that is also an additional revenue stream for the NJSP.
In addition, the cloud-based system deployed on AWS enables disaster recovery and enhances security, including a code that ensures the person applying for the job or license
is the person who is submitting fingerprints. The next generation will be
piloted for New Jersey citizens in 2021, deploying touchless fingerprinting at select locations to offer even greater convenience and personal safety.
