Reston, Virginia (May 25, 2022) – IDEMIA, a technology identity leader, announced today that it posted strong results in the 2021 Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Biometric Technology Rally released this past week. The Rally tests devices and matching systems in a real-world environment using a pool of 600 volunteers at DHS’s Maryland test facility. This year’s Rally tested these systems in scenarios that included subjects who were masked, unmasked and included diverse demographic groups.
IDEMIA’s matching system ranked highest in tests of Effectiveness for True Identity Rate (unmasked) with an average score of 99.7 percent. Six other matching systems achieved the 99% Rally True Identification Rate (TIR) goal, all of them using IDEMIA’s acquisition system. IDEMIA’s matching system was also in the top tier of systems tested for ease of use, delivering transaction times for volunteers of under four seconds and a satisfaction rate of over 95 percent.
IDEMIA’s experience with deployment of biometric systems is reflected in its top-tier performance, showing a remarkable absence of bias across genders and skin tones.
IDEMIA’s matching system ranked highest in Effectiveness for True Identity Rate (unmasked and masked) when utilizing images from IDEMIA’s acquisition system, with an average score of 100 percent for successful unmasked captures and over 99.5 percent across all demographic groups tested.
“Every year, the Rally provides one of the most definitive objective assessments of how facial recognition systems perform in a simulated operational environment. Our top-ranking and top-tier results reflect the integrity of our solutions, and the insights from the results are an invaluable resource for us as we continue to evolve and perfect these technologies.”
